We are going to take the TAC-RX and another pair of glasses that don't have the special hard coating and put them in a freezer to rapidly cool the lenses. We are going to take them out after 1 minute and see how much they fog up at room temperature. Fogging up of lenses can be a real problem with sports eyewear and it is something that eyewear designers are constantly trying to improve. The problem occurs when water droplets condense on a cold lens surface when the wearer either gets hot and perspires or when they go rapidly from a cold environment to a warm one. Anti-fog treatments are applied to lenses to reduce this problem. However, many anti-fog treatments are only partly successful, especially in extreme conditions. They wear off after regular lens cleaning and need to be re-applied. With the TAC-RX, a hard silicone coating is applied to the back of the lens that creates a smooth surface that reduces the formation of water droplets.
